There is something exciting happening in the world of desert bighorn sheep. Long known for its precious few numbers and for its equally precious hunting permits; desert bighorn sheep numbers have been slowly increasing and nowhere is this more true than in Chihuahua, Mexico. This year WSF will offer one tag for this population that was started with the genetics from Tiburon Island. Jose Antonio Vallina a businessman, conservationist, and hunter, started Rancho La Guarida in 1982 where he built a beautiful lodge and started developing water sources for the native wildlife. In 2000, he was able to bring in the first desert bighorn sheep and additional sheep were transplanted in 2002 and 2003. Some from Tiburon Island and some from other sources to increase generic diversity. Originally the sheep were placed in a 10,000 acre ranch that was partially high fenced.
Rancho La Guarida has since added another 10,000 acres that are completely open creating a 20,000+ acre eco system for desert bighorn sheep. The lambing success has been exceptional due to the excellent habitat and genetics there is a herd of +450 sheep, with about half of them being rams so hunters can expect to harvest rams in the 175 - 190 category. Desert bighorn sheep taken on Rancho La Guarida qualify for the Boone and Crockett Club Record Book as well as the B& C and WSF Awards Programs as free range, Fair Chase wild sheep. The hunt is for November 2021 to March 2022 hunting season.
After the hunter arrives in Chihuahua City, everything will be arranged for them in the very finest tradition of Mexican hospitality. The hunt is for 10 days and one companion can join the hunter at the bid price. Additional companions can be included at an additional charge. There are daily nonstop flights from Dallas, Houston and Phoenix into Chihuahua City or there is a landing strip on the property for direct flights into Rancho La Guarida. In mid-December 2020, 2018 raffle winner (and WSF Summit Life Member) Kyle Hurley of Idaho took a 10 year-old desert ram with Jose Antonio Vallina of Rancho La Guarida…in 4 days of hunting, Kyle saw more than 100 different free-range rams, and finally selected an old monarch, with a 1-shot kill @ 287 yards!
Accompanied by his father, WSF Vice-President for Conservation Kevin Hurley, the Hurley men were treated to an incredible week of Chihuahuan desert glassing, horseback hunting, fabulous food/accommodations, and true Mexican hospitality. Our hosts Jose Antonio Vallina and his wife Esperanza picked us up @ the Chihuahua City airport, handled all the firearms permit paperwork, escorted us through the PROFEPA ram inspection in Chihuahua City, flawlessly provided all the paperwork for USFWS inspection at DFW airport, and made this trip/hunt seamless!

The Wild Sheep Foundation (WSF) is organized to benefit wild sheep by generating funds by auctioning items donated by individuals and/or companies.
Any bid made at a WSF auction, whether in person at a live auction, by phone, online or at a silent auction, constitutes an unconditional offer to buy the item in question at the price bid. Unless a higher and subsequent bid is made, your bid creates a binding contract of purchase, obligates you to sign the bid ticket or, in the case of a phone or online bid, authorizes the person who took the bid to sign on your behalf AND requires that the bid amount be paid prior to the close of the auction. In the event that the successful bid was made by phone or online, the bid price must be received before the close of the fifth business day after the close of the auction. For any purchase of more than $100,000, upon request, all issued check currently dated will not be deposited until the opening of the sixth business day after the close of the auction.
Any failure of compliance with the provision above will result in the addition of any costs incurred because of non-compliance, plus the addition of interest at the rate of 1 per month, or portion thereof, that payment is late. Auction items must be paid for by the close of Convention. Payments will be taken at the auction payment table during the Ladies Luncheon, Life Member Breakfast, and all evening auctions. Payments can be made by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. If the winner of an auction refuses to pay the winning bid price plus any premiums required, the item shall be offered to the next highest bidder for the price he/she bid. If the next highest bidder declines the item or if the second highest bidder is unknown, the President shall dispose of the item at his/her discretion.

*WSF strongly encourages Special Permit buyers to book with a licensed, registered guide/outfitter in the State, Province, Tribal Nation or Country he/she is hunting. Use of non-licensed guide/outfitters may be prohibited by law. It is the legal responsibility of the permit buyer/holder to familiarize themselves with, and abide by, the game, outfitting, guiding, firearm use/importation or other applicable laws in the State, Province or Country they are hunting.
ONLINE BIDDING: All online bidders will be required to pay a 5% registration fee with a $250 cap.
You will also be asked to provide the following information: Full Name, Email address, Address, Phone number, Credit card number, which an AVS is completed (Address Verification System) All purchases over the amount of $10,000 will require a call back from WSF Auction Team for verification.
ABSENTEE BID FORM: If you are bidding on behalf of someone that is not in attendance, you will have to fill out an Absentee Bid Form which will be provided at the Auction Payment Table (left of stage) during the banquet auctions.
FIREARMS: Before taking possession of your purchased firearm, the gun must be registered in compliance with all federal, state, and local firearms laws. To meet this compliance, WSF will ship the firearm, at the expense of the purchaser, from Headquarters to a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder of your choice after convention. WSF cannot transfer any firearm at the Convention.
WSF AUCTION ITEM POLICY:
All goods in the live and silent auctions and fund-raising areas have been acquired or obtained from third parties. The purchaser acknowledges that the goods have not been inspected by WSF, and is advised, in the case of firearms, knives, bullets, or other weapons to obtain a competent inspection and test of the goods before use. The goods sold in both the live and silent auctions are sold ‘’AS IS” with all faults and defects, and without any express or implied warranty on the part of WSF. WSF provides no warranties of fitness and expressly disclaims the same. WSF does not accept any liability or responsibility for any product, design, or use. Any written warranties on the goods delivered to the high bidder are those solely of the manufactures, and/or their agents, and shall be the sole liability and responsibility of the manufacturer.
All services, hunts, or otherwise, in the live and silent auctions and fund-raising areas have been acquired for and are to be furnished by third parties and contain the same reservation set forth under “goods” above. No services in the live auction are to be or will be performed by WSF. WSF shall bear no responsibilities for the delivery or quality of any of the services, or for any loss or damages arising from or related to or connected with the performance or non-performance of such services. The purchaser also acknowledges that in the event that services are purchased, WSF cannot be responsible for or liable for any political unrest or instability that may occur outside the United States. WSF cannot be accountable for any injuries or damages that may arise there from. WSF reserves the right to add items to the auctions as additional donations become available. Only WSF exhibitors may solicit and/ or market to permit buyers or attendees on the expo or auction floor during our conventions. Solicitation by non-exhibitors violates WSF Exhibit policy and is prohibited.

Silent Auction results will be posted at the close of the auction in the Silent Auction Area and at the Registration Desk. Payments will be taken at the Registration Desk from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Arrangements for item pick up can be made at that time. Bidding begins Thursday at 10:00 a.m. and ends Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Banquet Silent Auction (located in the Tuscany Ballroom of the Peppermill) will open at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday Night and close at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday Night. Any items left in the inventory, either unpaid or uncollected, will be taken back to WSF Headquarters and shipped at the purchaser’s expense. Items may be picked up during the auctions with proof of payment. The Auction Volunteer Team will be available in the auction hall to assist you in obtaining your item. In addition, you can pick up your item in the Silent Auction Display area (located in the Exhibit Hall) during show hours, and the Live Auction items in the Tuscany Ballroom of the Peppermill.
