The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish (NMDGF) will auction just one Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep permit. As authorized by state law, the Bighorn Sheep Enhancement Program will receive 90% of the proceeds for projects to benefit bighorn sheep with 10% of the proceeds retained by the Wild Sheep Foundation (WSF). Anyone, including previous special permit holders, may submit a bid to obtain the 2023 Rocky Mountain bighorn permit unless their hunting privileges have been revoked. The permit may be transferred by the successful bidder to an individual qualified to hunt.
The rule in New Mexico pertaining to this permit was changed to increase hunter opportunity. The auction winner will have the first choice of any open unit (Auction Hunter exclusive unit). The raffle hunter will then declare to hunt in a second open unit (Raffle Hunter exclusive unit). The remaining open units may be hunted by EITHER the Auction Hunter or the Raffle Hunter. Currently there are 6 Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep hunt units open for the 2023 season. The New Mexico Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep herds are in both high and low-elevation habitats. Rams scoring greater than 180 B&C are regularly harvested in most herds.
The successful auction bidder must select by June 30, 2023, one hunt from any unit open for Rocky Mountain big-horn sheep hunting in New Mexico, including: Pecos Wilderness (Unit 45), Latir Wilderness (Unit 53 north of NM 38), Wheeler Peak Wilderness (Unit 53 south of NM 38), Rio Grande Gorge (Units 49, 50, 53), San Francisco River/Turkey Creek (Units 16B, 22, 23, 24), or the Culebres Mountains (100% private in Unit 55). Some restrictions apply on private land hunt in the Culebres Mountains. Hunt dates run from August 1 through December 31, 2023, except in Wheeler Peak where the hunt dates are August 1-15 and September 1 through December 31, 2023. Shipping arrangements and payments are to be made solely by the winning bidder with the shipper of their choice. WSF assumes no responsibility or liability of shipped items. No hard item merchandise will be delivered to buyers until WSF bank confirms full payment has been received. All hard merchandise may not be shipped until 30 days after the close of auction.
Silent Auction items other then firearms will be shipped by our vendor and your card will be charged through online hunting auctions.
Firearms puchasers should wait until January 20, 2023 before contacting Hannah Cantu at 406.404-8765 to arrange for shipment of firearms or by email at: hcantu@wildsheepfoundation.org. A Copy of your FFL must be emailed to Hannah to start the process. The cost of firearms shipment is borne by the purchaser.

BIDDER AUTHORIZES WSF TO CHARGE BIDDER’S CREDIT CARD FOR THE FULL AMOUNT OF EACH SUCCESSFUL BID PLACED BY BIDDER IMMEDIATELY UPON THE CLOSE OF EACH INDIVIDUAL SALE. No hard item merchandise will be delivered to buyers until WSF bank confirms full payment has been received. All sales are final. NO RETURNS OF MERCHANDISE WILL BE ACCEPTED. Bidders paying by credit card require prior approval and will be charged an additional 3% administration fee. No payments will under any circumstances be accepted from any third party not being a successful qualified Bidder. The Wild Sheep Foundation (WSF) is organized to benefit wild sheep by generating funds by auctioning items donated by individuals and/or companies.
Any bid made at a WSF auction, whether in person at a live auction, by phone, online or at a silent auction, constitutes an unconditional offer to buy the item in question at the price bid. Unless a higher and subsequent bid is made, your bid creates a binding contract of purchase, obligates you to sign the bid ticket or, in the case of a phone or online bid, authorizes the person who took the bid to sign on your behalf AND requires that the bid amount be paid prior to the close of the auction. In the event that the successful bid was made by phone or online, the bid price must be received before the close of the fifth business day after the close of the auction. For any purchase of more than $100,000, upon request, all issued check currently dated will not be deposited until the opening of the sixth business day after the close of the auction.
Any failure of compliance with the provision above will result in the addition of any costs incurred because of non-compliance, plus the addition of interest at the rate of 1 per month, or portion thereof, that payment is late. Auction items must be paid for by the close of Convention. Payments will be taken at the auction payment table during the Ladies Luncheon, Life Member Breakfast, and all evening auctions. Payments can be made by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. If the winner of an auction refuses to pay the winning bid price plus any premiums required, the item shall be offered to the next highest bidder for the price he/she bid. If the next highest bidder declines the item or if the second highest bidder is unknown, the President shall dispose of the item at his/her discretion.

*WSF strongly encourages Special Permit buyers to book with a licensed, registered guide/outfitter in the State, Province, Tribal Nation or Country he/she is hunting. Use of non-licensed guide/outfitters may be prohibited by law. It is the legal responsibility of the permit buyer/holder to familiarize themselves with, and abide by, the game, outfitting, guiding, firearm use/importation or other applicable laws in the State, Province or Country they are hunting.

ABSENTEE BID FORM: If you are bidding on behalf of someone that is not in attendance, you will have to fill out an Absentee Bid Form which will be provided at the Auction Payment Table (left of stage) during the banquet auctions.
FIREARMS: Before taking possession of your purchased firearm, the gun must be registered in compliance with all federal, state, and local firearms laws. To meet this compliance, WSF will ship the firearm, at the expense of the purchaser, from Headquarters to a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder of your choice after convention. WSF cannot transfer any firearm at the Convention.

The Gallery of Guns contains a variety of firearms,some are new from the manufacturer, others new in the box from our member donors and some have been fired and used in the field. We will give the maximum details possible under each individual item but our comments are opinions only. When bidding in the Gallery of Guns please remember that all items are offered for sale as is, where is and that no special guarantee is made or implied as to condition, authenticity or era of any described items. All items are offered for sale to the highest bidder and the bidders must establish to their own satisfaction the authenticity and condition before bidding. There maybe guns in this auction that are legal or illegal in CA however sometimes the magazines or stocks are not. All goods in the live and silent auctions and fund-raising areas have been acquired or obtained from third parties. The purchaser acknowledges that the goods have not been inspected by WSF, and is advised, in the case of firearms, knives, bullets, or other weapons to obtain a competent inspection and test of the goods before use. The goods sold in both the live and silent auctions are sold ‘’AS IS” with all faults and defects, and without any express or implied warranty on the part of WSF. WSF provides no warranties of fitness and expressly disclaims the same. WSF does not accept any liability or responsibility for any product, design, or use. Any written warranties on the goods delivered to the high bidder are those solely of the manufactures, and/or their agents, and shall be the sole liability and responsibility of the manufacturer.
All services, hunts, or otherwise, in the live and silent auctions and fund-raising areas have been acquired for and are to be furnished by third parties and contain the same reservation set forth under “goods” above. No services in the live auction are to be or will be performed by WSF. WSF shall bear no responsibilities for the delivery or quality of any of the services, or for any loss or damages arising from or related to or connected with the performance or non-performance of such services. The purchaser also acknowledges that in the event that services are purchased, WSF cannot be responsible for or liable for any political unrest or instability that may occur outside the United States. WSF cannot be accountable for any injuries or damages that may arise there from. WSF reserves the right to add items to the auctions as additional donations become available. Silent Auction results will be posted at the close of the auction in the Silent Auction Area and on the Online Hunting Auction web site. Bidding begins Thursday at 10:00 a.m. and ends Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Pick up can be made from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Saturday. Any items(other then firearms)left in the inventory, either unpaid or uncollected, will be shipped at the purchaser’s expense. If you do not register your credit card with Online Auctions, you will not be able to pay on Saturday at the conclusion of the event. Your items will be returned to headquarters and you will be contacted to make payment for the item plus shipping costs.
